Bordeaux Revisited

In the summer we held a successful tasting and dinner devoted to the wines of Bordeaux. As a result of that dinner I was invited with a small group of restaurateurs to visit the region for three days in October.

The aim of the trip was to allow us to refresh our knowledge and spend some time with the wine makers, sampling their wares and getting up to speed with the latest techniques in the cellar and the vineyard.

As a result of my visit I will be hosting a second wine evening on Thursday 24th November 2011, for which I have assembled a cross section of wines that I feel represent their appellations well, I have included wines from some of the chateaux that we visited.

After the relatively straight forward vintages of 2009 and 2010, this year’s harvest will provide a challenge to the wine makers, in the words of the wise ‘This one will not make itself’. Careful selection in the vineyard was essential and sympathetic use of oak will also be important.   

The price per person will be £37.50 to include dinner, all wines and VAT.

If you have been to one of our wine evenings before you will know the format, if you have not and would like to join in, then we look forward to welcoming you. Reception drinks will be served at 7.30 with a view to sitting for dinner at 8pm. Pre booking is essential by calling 01653 628234.

We have a limited number of rooms available at the special rate of £37.50 per person, bed and breakfast, based on double occupancy of standard rooms.

We returned from our jolly with a spring in our step and stories to be told, I look forward to sharing them with you!
